Virginia Newsome

Celebration of Life Services for Ms. Virginia Newsome will be held Friday, September 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Fountain Grove AME Church 2137 Asbell Road Irwinton, Georgia. Rev. Darrell Mitchell will serve as eulogist.

Virginia Newsome was born August 22, 1967 to Mr. Tommy Newsome and Mrs. Alice Mae Bryant.

She attended and received her education from Wilkinson County School System and loved Wilco Warrior Basketball. She joined Fountain Grove AME Church at an early age and served with the Ushers Ministry. She was employed with Vanessa Stay-N-Play as an Activity Coach and Piggly Wiggly as a cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Mr. Tommy Newsome and Mrs. Alice Mae Bryant, siblings; Mary Ann Newsome Johnson, Barbara D. Newsome, Shirley Newsome and Leda Newsome Rease and two brothers-in-law’s; Ben Sinclair and Joseph Johnson.

Virginia is survived by her two sons; KaDish B. (LaVisha) Newsome of Irwinton, Georgia and Justin Newsome of Gordon, Georgia, two grandchildren; Ka’Den Newsome of Irwinton, Georgia and Cameron Newsome of Atlanta, Georgia, siblings; Luther (Rosa) Bryant of Milledgeville, Georgia, Tony (Vickie) Newsome of LaGrange, Georgia, Melissa Newsome Sinclair of Jeffersonville, Georgia, Sallie Jefferies of Gordon, Georgia, Ruthie Newsome Cooper and Margaret Newsome Morris, one brother, Otha Newsome all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Virginia has the heart of gold often misunderstood there was no explanation needed for how she felt about her family or friends because she loved all of them dearly. Even though she gave her boys tough love, she loved them dearly.

Wilkinson County Memorial Chapel – Irwinton has charge of arrangements.
