Mr. Joseph Whipple was born on February 26, 1934, in Irwinton GA, to the late Seabron Whipple and the late Ollie Carswell Whipple. Surrounded by his immediate family, on October 11, 2025, he peacefully transcended his earthen vessel.
He grew up in Irwinton, GA. and was the tenth of eleven children. He was educated in public schools of Wilkinson County. As a child he learned the importance of great work ethics, and responsibility. These attributes as a young man, taught him how to be innovative and strategic in providing for his family. He was employed by several companies before securing a career with Engelhard Corporation, where he retired after thirty-one years of faithful service. Throughout his tenure he achieved many commendations and awards.
At an early age, he united in fellowship with The Jordan Stream Baptist Church where he was a faithful member and supporter. Recognizing his need for salvation, through a prayer of commitment, he made a crucial decision and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
On December 25, 1954, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Marie Johnson. Their celebration of love and commitment to each other would span over thirty-five years. They were blessed with eleven loving children. His devoted wife, Marie Whipple preceded him in death. On May 4, 1995, he married Annie Rose Hill. As a result, he was blessed with eight bonus children of whom he came to love as his own. Annie Rose Whipple also preceded him in death.
Perhaps his greatest place of solace was relaxing on his front porch. Some of his hobbies included fishing, gardening, hunting and traveling. He also was a skilled marksman. Fellowship and enjoyment of family was one of his favorite pastimes. As the patriarch of the family, his life and legacy has instilled valuable life lessons that will have a lasting impact on his family for generations to come.
