Jacqueline Moore

Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Jacqueline Onzell Jones Moore will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 12:00 Noon. Location - Wilkinson County High School Auditorium. Presiding Elder Billy G. McFadden will serve as eulogist. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery - McIntyre, Georgia. 

Jacqueline Onzell Jones Moore, lovingly known as “Mrs. Moore" and "Jackeé” by family and close friends, was born on February 23, 1943, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Richard Jones and Emmaline Jones. As the youngest of eight siblings, Mrs. Moore's life was shaped by love, laughter, and the lessons shared within her family.

Mrs. Moore was known for her gentle spirit, grace, wisdom, and unwavering faith. A gifted student, she graduated from A. H. Parker High School at the age of 15 and continued her education at Daniel Payne College in Birmingham, Alabama. She later attended Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and became a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority; Incorporated. While attending Paul Quinn College, she met the love of her lite, David L. Moore. Together, they completed their education, got married, and eventually made their home in Irwinton, Georgia.

A devoted member of Saint Phillips African Methodist Episcopal Church in Toomsboro, Georgia, Mrs. Moore faithfully served on the Board of Trustees. Throughout her journey in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, she worked diligently alongside her husband as a First Lady of Thomas Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church (Claxton, Georgia), Saint John African Methodist Episcopal Church (Pembroke, Georgia), Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church (Sandersville, Georgia), and Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church (Quitman, Georgia). She became the District Consultant for the Thomasville-Bainbridge District (now the Valdosta South District) and the Greater Griffin District (now the Macon North District) with the elevation of her husband to Presiding Elder. In this role, she provided leadership and guidance to numerous departments and organizations, including the Women's Missionary Society (WMS), the Young People's and Children's Division (YPD), the Department of Christian Education, the Lay Organization, the Christian Debutante and Masters Commission, Ministers' Spouses, Widows, Widowers, and Preachers' Kids (MS-WANO+PKs), the Social Action Commission, and the Health Commission.

Mrs. Moore began her professional career at Hall Monroe Elementary School and later continued her service with Calhoun Consolidated Schools, now known as the Wilkinson County School District. During her distinguished 34-year career, she became a trailblazing educator, a coach's wife, and a cheerleading sponsor. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on generations of students, colleagues, and community members.

On June 18. 2026, Mrs. Moore entered her eternal home in glory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Presiding Elder Reverend David L. Moore: grandson, Mr. Dai'Lewis Washington; and siblings, Mrs. Louise Boddie, Mr. Roosevelt Jones, Mr. Richard Jones, Jr., Mr. Robert Jones, and Mr. Jesse Jones

She leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters: Ms. Lolita Moore of Houston, Texas, Dr. Elizabeth Moore Williams of Bonaire, Georgia, and Ms. DaVida Moore Jackson of Bonaire, Georgia; six grandchildren: Ms. Shontarla Washington, Ms. Alvinishia Washington, Ms. L’Vita Washington, Mr. Jamerion Love, Ms. Jakeisia Travis, and Mr. David Paul Jackson; four great-grandchildren: Mr. JayVeon McKinney, Miss Kaayah McKinney, Mr. Tristian Love, and Miss Rian Love; siblings. Dr. Amanda Brown of Valdosta, Georgia, and Mr. Lunsford Jones (Mrs. Geraldine) of Jacksonville, Florida; sisters-in-law, Ms. Evelyn Perkins, Mrs. Dora Ann Jackson (Mr. Robert), Ms. Edith Jennings, Ms. Ida Mae Turner all of Franklin, Tennessee, Ms. Marie Moore of Houston, Texas, and Ms. Deborah Moore of Soperton, Georgia; goddaughter, Ms. Adrian Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends.

Mrs. Moore's legacy of faith, education, service, and love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Her life stands as a testament to devotion, excellence, and the enduring power of grace. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”

Public viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at St. Phillips AME - 139 N. Railroad Street - Toomsboro, Georgia.
