Barbara Ammons

Ms. Barbara Denise Newsome Ammons gained her heavenly wings on December 6, 2022 with her family by her side. Barbara was born April 15, 1963 to the late Alice Mae Bryant Newsome and Tommy Newsome. She attended public school in Wilkinson County and was a member of Fountain Grove AME Church where she was a servant of the lord by joining the missionary committee and being an usher.

Barbara worked at Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, GA where she retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Her hobbies included taking care of her family, gardening, decorating, cooking, listening to music, and reading the bible.

Barbara had a beautiful heart and a joyous smile, she loved her cigarettes, and was well loved by her family and friends. Barbara’s grandchildren were her world!!!!

Siblings who proceeded her in death: Mary Ann Newsome Johnson (Joe Johnson), of Cochran, GA, Shirley Newsome Hammond of Philadelphia, PA, Leola Newsome Rease of Philadelphia, PA.

Barbara is survived by three daughters: Princess Ammons of Milledgeville, GA, Victoria Ammons, Ladarius Ammons, both of Warner Robins, GA; two sons: Jamel Ammons (Lakeitta Ammons) of Gordon, GA, Sammie Hartry of Gordon, GA; along with fifteen grandkids.

Surviving Siblings: Virginia Newsome of McIntyre, GA, Melissa Sinclair (Benjamin Sinclair) of Jeffersonville, GA, Sallie Jefferies of Gordon, GA, Ruthie Newsome Cooper, Margaret Newsome Morris, both of Philadelphia, PA, Luther Bryant (Rose Bryant) of Milledgeville, GA, Tony Newsome of LaGrange, GA, Otha Newsome of Philadelphia, PA.

Wilkinson County Memorial Chapel, Irwinton has charge of arrangements.
