Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Alton “BayBay” Carswell will be held Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 12:00PM at St. John CME Church 504 College Street – Gordon, Georgia. Pastor William Horne will serve as eulogist.
Alton “BayBay” Carswell was born May 31, 1955 to the parentage of Mr. Walter Carswell, Jr. and Mrs. Mildred Austin. He transitioned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Walter Carswell, Jr. and his sister, Cathy Butts.
BayBay, as he was known to many, was a graduate of Wilkinson County High School Class of 1973. He was an employee of Englehard Corporation for a number of years until his retirement and a faithful member of St. John CME Church – Gordon, Georgia.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife of 47 years, Mrs. Ruby Carswell; son, Alvin (La’Quadia) Carswell; mother, Mildred Austin; siblings, Laura Austin, Beverly Alexander, Mary Williams, Carolyn (Willie) Iverson, Sharon (Jim) Logan, Mecheryl (Robert) Bass, Terry Austin, Lennie Austin, Henry Carswell and Randolph Carswell; grandchildren, Keonha Lewis, Altariq Carswell, Kaliya Carswell, Nicholas Carswell, Braylen Edwards, JaNyah Young and Kaden Young; devoted nieces, Jamalet Austin, Ashely (Tony) Clowers; special friends, James Hagins, Sr., Charlie Seabrooks, Rogers Smith, Anthony Cantrell, Eddie Lowe, Edward Gordon, John Young and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Wilkinson County Memorial Chapel – Irwinton has charge of arrangements.
